FOURTEEN

The residential complex is organized as an L-shaped volume around an internal courtyard. The courtyard and the void results in an inward-looking typology that can benefit from maximum diffused daylight without compromising on privacy.

The building’s façade features the tallest green wall in Thessaloniki and a vertical veil of vegetations in planters and on walls. The resulting green facades trap carbon dioxide, emit oxygen and provide energy-saving shade. The building acts as a gateway into the city centre from the west and even so, a massive landmark at the centre of life in the city.

The rhythmic arrangement of windows and balconies across the façade softens the volume by lending it a sense of lightness. Thin louvres in the exterior help keep certain areas private, while others look directly out to the city or open onto small gardens. Like a musical composition, the planters are integrated into the facades of the building and the vertical gardens, which are used as basic architectural features, act like lively artworks.
